How often should I have my eyes examined?

Recommended at least once a year

Dr. David Bond & Associates Optometrists of Barrie, Ontario explains how often you should have your eyes examined

Each person is different in regard to their specific eye-care needs. Some live very vigorous lives filled with new exposures to atmospheres, air qualities, and more that may affect their eyes' function. Others are comfortable staying in their familiar town with their familiar job where not much changes that could affect their eyes. Either way, each individual must take proper precautions and ensure their eyes are properly cared for to the best of their ability.

The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends annual visits to your eye doctor to ensure your eyes are healthy, update your prescription if needed, and prevent future problems from occurring if you are a child, over 40, wear contact lenses, have a medical condition, or if there have been problems with eyes in your family's history. If problems arise these visits will become more frequent.

For other patients examinations are recommended bi-annually or every 2 years. These examinations are important due to the fragility of the inner eye tissue and how quickly problems can grow- like all issues, it is much easier to cut off the bud before the roots have a chance to take hold.

Dr. David Bond is well-equipped to complete eye examinations of all people. Years of experience has made him able to quickly diagnose any problems and advise the patient on an effective solution as quickly as possible.
